Above is the very lovely Loch Lomond, Scotland, with the Ben Lomond mountain in the distance
Vintage post cards of Loch Lomond I found in a nice little shop…
A simple mountain watercolour sketch…
I used just 2 colours for my sketch, Paynes Grey and Sepia, and used 140 lb hot pressed watercolour paper. This will go into one of my watercolour sketchbooks…
The Scottish mountain ranges and lochs are stunningly beautiful – I will post more pictures soon…
It’s amazing how beautiful just two colors can be.
Thank you Sandy – I’m still a beginner watercolourist so I’m keeping it simple…
I like all four pictures.
Thank you Karen!
Great pictures. I hope to visit Scotland (Glasgow) in July so will take both camera and sketchbook! Never really been there…
Thank you – I hope you enjoy your trip. Loch Lomond is only about half an hours drive north of Glasgow on the A82. There’s a nice little village called Luss on the shores of Loch Lomond well worth a visit…
We honeymooned close to Loch Lomond over 20 years ago – I think we stayed somewhere called Callender. Beautiful area – enjoy your holiday! x
Thank you Tanya!
What gorgeous scenes, Evelyn, and I love the color combination you used in your painting.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you Lisa – I hope you have a great weekend too!
Just gorgeous, Evelyn. You’ve really captured the essence of my beloved Highlands in these! Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving such nice comments. I’m glad you enjoyed the process of making my hubby’s card – like you, I love to see how people achieve their finished results. I’ve had a very busy week and look forward hopefully to spending some more studio time this coming week, and working some more on my Infusions project.

Thank you Shoshi!
Gorgeousness!!!
Thank you Jodi!
Thank you for reviving a few memories of Loch Lomond. I remember a lovely bit of a cafe that served the most delicious Mulligatawny Soup! I’ll be the soup’s colors would be a lovely ‘watercolor’ subject for you…..
Thank you Carol – we’ve found a few nice little cafes along Loch Lomond…
A really effective painting, i love the pains grey for the sky.
Thank you – Paynes Grey is a great colour for a cloudy grey sky…
